keyf is inspired by the beautiful textiles our founder grew up with during summers in Turkey with her family. She creates collections with “keyf” in mind, which is the Turkish word that captures the mood and state of enjoyment and can encapsulate many scenarios of joy that she hopes you will use your pieces during.
The brand celebrates craftsmanship by working with family owned cooperatives and communities of women around Turkey to make their handcrafted designs. The country is known for its high-quality textiles, having inventing towels and pestemals for use in hammams centuries ago.
The keyf goods aim to simplify and bring joy to your life.
In your home, they take up less space in the linen closet and in the washing machine, dry quicker, and last longer than regular bath towels.
While out, keep a few in the car or your tote to have impromptu picnics in a park, throw a towel over a table as a tablecloth or to use as a blanket when the evening gets chilly.
Meet the Founder
I was born and raised in Brooklyn and now call the suburbs of Princeton, NJ home. I've lived in Chicago, San Francisco, and Charleston, but love being back closer to family. I like to think I'm an expert gift giver, have a weakness for carrot cake & sugar cookies, and can drink piña coladas all day long.
I grew up using Turkish towels and always have at least one with me when I travel anywhere. Friends would always ask about them and after many purchases in Turkey, I realized they were not all made the same. Some towels I had to throw out after a few washes, and others I have had nearing on two decades. I wanted to create keyf to introduce more people to these powerhouse textiles and work with the best manufacturers.
When starting keyf, I enlisted my Aunt who not only studied textiles in Turkey, but also worked at Dolmabahce Palace in Istanbul restoring Ottoman era textiles. We went to several villages in Turkey over the course of several months in 2017 to meet the artisans. We looked for family run businesses or cooperatives and weavers who have been doing it for generations. It was important to us that they were small scale producers who were creating jobs for those in their community.
We wanted it to be ethical, create something that sang of a slower pace of life, and we wanted it to be fun!
We hope you enjoy these products as much as we enjoy bringing them to you!
