The families that do our weaving are often at least third generation weavers. We spent time in rural villages in the South of Turkey over the course of several months meeting the families who weave, wash, iron, embroider and sew the keyf goods.
Many of the women who embroider and hand tie the fringe on the towels do it from their home, and would otherwise not have a reliable source of income.
These goods empower the women and their family who have this new stream of income.
keyf also employs women through a United Nations Development Project in Southeastern Turkey.
We are proud to support an amazing organization working to provide employment and living wages in developing areas.
We feel thankful to be able to provide a source of income to those in Turkey, but we wanted our products to help those here as well, so have partnered with Room to Grow to donate a portion of each sale. This wonderful organization is focused on ensuring babies born into poverty have everything they need to learn, grow and succeed in life.
